However, this does mean that any speaker who stands before a crowd or group must have something fresh to offer that has not already been heard a 1000 times before. When you are hiring a motivational speaker, look for someone who has a fresh personality, a little extra zip that catches your attention because it is new and interesting.
2. The individual must possess an authentic personality.
Perhaps one of the most important attributes of a motivational speaker is that they have a genuine, authentic personality. Some of the most famous motivational speakers come off as over the top, but this is truly their personality. Take for example Tony Robbins who is one of the most famous motivational speakers around. He is joyful, encouraging, and sometimes even downright giddy and obnoxious in his speaking engagements, but this is also seemingly a part of his true persona. The crowd needs to know that whoever is trying to motivate them is coming from a sincere place themselves.
3. The public speaker must be able to empathize with the audience.
The speaker who is talking to a crowd for motivational purposes must be able to preconceive what the crowd is going to feel about the words that are delivered. There should be a quality that the speaker possesses that allows them to build a rapport with the receptors listening, which usually comes along with an empathetic personality. Speakers who are empathetic have the ability to situate themselves in the minds of those in attendance so they can frame their words in the most effective way.
